Why a Roof Restoration?
A complete roof restoration can bring the luster and quality of your roof back after constant exposure to the elements. Our professional approach ensures that your roof will look better than the day it was first built!
Cement tile restoration
A typical cement tile roof is in need of restoration when it gets into it’s teen years. Mainly in the area of re-bedding and pointing, because of movement in various areas of the home. While the structure and the foundation is settling down it is common for this exercise to take place as early as five years depending on the area. A good way to see if your cement tile roof is in need of restoration is to look for any cracked, broken or chipped tiles and whether the ridge capping needs to be re-bed or pointed. You should also look for colour fading or any moss and lichens on the roof.
Terracotta tile restoration
Once terracotta tiles have lost their shine they can start to break down, become brittle and break very easily. They also have a tendency to grow moss and lichens that creates mold and dampness inside your home if left for to long.
The Restoration Process
From start to finish, Fix My Roof will ensure that your roof restoration is completely hassle free with minimal disruption to your home (approximtely 2-4 days). The restoration process consists of 5 basic procedures:
Step 1: Replace all broken and damaged tiles.
Step 2: High pressure clean all dirt, moss and lichen from the roof.
Step 3: Re-bed where necessary and re-point all caps using Flexi-point.
Step 4: Seal tiles by applying one coat of acrylic primer and two coats of coloured sealants.
Step 5: Cleaning up with attention to detail
Roof repairs with Fix My Roof - Roofing Restorations Newcastle follow our commitment to permanently repairing any problem with your roof. Options and procedures for repairs can vary depending on the extent of the problem. We've listed a number of things we can do to comprehensively ensure your roof is leak-free.
Our expert tradesmen will replace any broken or cracked tiles to ensure wind, vermin and water stay out of your roof space. We take extra care on older style roofs to ensure no further damage is done to surrounding fragile tiles.
Rusted Valley Irons?
Valley iron replacement is needed when old and rusted galvanized valley irons have seen their days. Valleys are an integral part of your roof plumbing system, which should be inspected reguarly to ensure that no water can enter your roof during severe weather.
Zinc Dipped valley irons can be replaced to ensure a longer and trouble-free life than galvanized ones.
Need a good Re-sarking?
During this process, tiles will be lifted and old sarking paper replaced with the latest heavy duty material available. The roof is then re battened with new timbers before tiles are relayed followed by bedding and pointing, ensuring your roof is watertight and secure.
How about Re-bedding and pointing?
You Bet! Cracked or loose pointing can allow wind and rain into your roof, and also presents hazards of caps slipping down and causing injury or smashing that new car you brought. Generally done in conjunction with a restoration, but is equally as effective during a repair, we start by removing all old cement around the tiles. Ridge caps are then realigned and reset using a metal bedding frame.

Roofing Restorations Newcastle
Ace's Nu-Line is a gutter and fascia in one. It is a gutter designed for direct installation to roof rafters, without the use of timber fascia. Also known as fascia gutter or eaves gutter.
Ace’s Mini-Line is a smaller version of Ace Nu-Line Gutter, it has a similar front profile with a flat back to fit flush to the fascia using concealed or external brackets. Ace Mini-line rainwater capacity is approximately 20% more than 115mm Quad Gutter and with overflows designed in the front of Mini-Line makes it ideal for heavy rainfall areas.
Ace’s Square-line gutter is a square front gutter that is slotted and needs to be folded around corners, eliminating the use of external angles and fixed with concealed brackets. Ideal for garages and carports with overflow holes designed in the front.
Ace Half Round
Ace’s Half Round is a European style gutter with a semicircular design that is supported by external brackets. With a 150mm diameter it has a greater water capacity and the speed of the water travel is greater than a conventional gutter allowing to clear debris and silt. The great advantage of having this cylindrical design is that it has a self cleaning feature.
Ace’s Round line is a cylindrical designed gutter with a flat back and no external brackets. It is a European style gutter with a 150mm diameter and self cleaning feature.
Ace Quad is a traditional high front quadrant gutter used on colonial style houses and is very popular on new home construction. It is a slotted gutter with overflow holes and a 115mm diameter.
Ace Old Style Quad
Old Style Quad has a lower front than Ace Quad and no overflow holes. This product is only available in NSW & ACT.
Steel Fascia is commonly used on new houses instead of timber fascia board. The advantage of Steel Fascia is that it requires minimal maintenance, no painting and is more economical than timber fascia. Fascia Cover is designed to go over your existing fascia boards. The advantage of this system is that it can cover faded and rotting fascia and eliminate the need to maintain and paint your fascia boards. Fascia Cover also exhibits the same profile as Steel Fascia thus it can be used to cover the existing timber boards to match up to an extension or new top storey addition where steel fascia has been used. Barge Soaker is used as a clever and attractive way to flash and weatherproof gables.
